The iron has been Grain Flow Forged in the facility in Hiroshima, Japan from a single billet of 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel, where Mizuno irons have been produced since 1968.

Engineered with a microlayer of copper beneath the Nickel Chrome finish to provide the pure soft feel which has been made famous by the legendary TN87 which was reintroduced in 2019.

The Pro 221 iron has a shorter blade length and thin top edge for a more compact profile appearance. It has a muscle pad at the rear, with more mass weight moved from the heel for a slightly muted sound. This compact design allows the player to be more confident without the loss of playability.
